6 months old

Hannah Beth, I can't believe you're already over a half a year old!

6 months old (2)

6 months old (5)

6 months old (3)

Size: 15 lbs, 2 1/4 oz, 25 1/4 inches long (20-30th %ile for both weight and length)

Diapers: Size 2, about to move up to size 3

Clothes: 6 months, some 6-9 months

  • You continue to be a great night sleeper--you usually sleep anywhere from 10-12 hours before you wake up to eat, and then you'll often go back to sleep for another hour or so. You're usually ready for bed around 7 or 7:30 p.m. (unless we're out for the evening and then you're up later).

  • At about 5 1/2 months, you started to roll over onto your tummy to sleep at night.

  • You can often be found with your thumb in your mouth when you're asleep, and sometimes the paci (you've figured out how to put it back in your mouth).

  • Your nap schedule is much better now--lately you've been taking 2 good naps (1-2 hours each), and sometimes a 3rd short one if needed. [This past month, Mommy and Daddy have been putting you down for naps awake so you can better learn to go to sleep on your own...it was really tough hearing you "cry it out" the first several times but you're doing great now!]

I love seeing waking up to see this sweet face in the morning!

  • You love anything and everything having to do with water...water bottles, sippy cups, bathtime, running water. We call you our little "fish." Can't wait to see what you think of a swimming pool sometime!

  • At about 5 months, 1 week old, we fed you baby rice cereal for the first time. You loved it and wanted to grab the spoon and feed yourself. Since then, you've eaten squash, sweet potatoes, avocado, pears, banana, applesauce, and oatmeal. You love it all!
  • You nurse about every 3-4 hours and take a bottle a few times each week depending on our schedule.

  • You really enjoy looking at books (especially sitting on our laps).

  • You love your feet and grab them any chance you get!

  • A couple of weeks ago, we had one particular day of beautiful "springish" weather so we took you on a walk. You loved having Daddy push you in the stroller. That was your first walk here in our new neighborhood. We can't wait for spring to finally arrive so we can spend more time with you outside.

  • We're still waiting for the arrival of those 2 little bottom teeth. It seems like you've been teething forever! You've been handling it really well though. You love chewing on anything you can, especially your little "teether pets" [love them frozen!]. You also drool lots!

  • We've recently started calling you our little "sweet one." You also hear "munchkin," "tootsie," "peanut," and other random petnames...

  • You enjoy your playmat, swing, walker, and bouncy seat--but each of them usually for only a few minutes at a time.

  • You're totally a "people baby"--you love places like church where you can look around and see lots of people and new things. You definitely know and recognize Mom and Dad's faces and voices but you're not afraid of strangers.

  • Mommy put you in a Moby wrap for the first time this month and you really like being carried around and involved in everything happening.

  • You love to make noises and hear your own voice. You love to squeal and get attention! You smile a ton, but your laughs are a little harder to come by.

  • You love being sung to and talked to.
  • You are so loved, sweet baby girl. You definitely aren't lacking any attention! haha

Oh Hannah Beth, your daddy and I sure do love you. We thank God everyday for what a precious gift that He has given us--you! Just when we think we can't possibly love you anymore, we wake up the next morning...and our love for you grows even more.

We hope and pray that as you grow you will know the love that God has for you...the love that surpasses knowledge, vast as the ocean and as deep as the sea.
Parenting is a big responsibility and we're so thankful for the privilege of raising you and watching you grow up. We are by no means perfect and will [and do] make mistakes each day...but may we, by the grace of God, learn together from our mistakes, and may we seek to become more conformed to His image.

Charity,
She is such a darling! I love her eyelashes, too. ;) She has such a sweet smile and I love the pix of her in the doll bed, haha. We did that with my little sisters too.
