Happy Thanksgiving!!

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.. His love endures forever."

I never cease to be amazed at the Lord's faithfulness and goodness to us. What a great time of year to spend with friends and family and be reminded of all that we truly have to be thankful for! God has greatly blessed us.

In the last few days.. we got our new glider rocking chair put together; the newest addition to the baby room. It's so comfy and I love it! Thanks, Grandpa and Grandma Smith :-)

Yesterday, the day before Thanksgiving, I was able to spend some time with my sweet friend from our Emmaus days, Melissa. We hadn't seen each other in 3 1/2 years! It was great to meet her little guy, Logan, for the first time. She just moved to North Carolina, so hopefully we will be able to see each other a lot more often now!

29 weeks...

29 weeks along now...
29 weeks

Here's what happening to our baby this week according to whattoexpect.com...

Yur baby's height and weight haven't changed much in the past week, but the big news is your baby's brain gain. Until now, the surface of your baby's brain was smooth. Now, your fetus's brain is taking on those characteristic grooves and indentations. The reason for this change in appearance? Those wrinkles allow for an increased amount of brain tissue — a necessary change as your baby prepares for life outside your womb, and the street smarts he or she will need.

So it's in with the new (brain cells, red blood cells) and out with the old (lanugo). Much of the lanugo — the soft, downy hair covering your baby's body — is beginning to disappear now because both fat and the brain are regulating your baby's body temperature (so no need for that furry coat anymore). But you may see a few leftover strands of fur on your newborn's back and shoulders

This last weekend, Tony and I attended a "childbirth preparation" class for 4 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday. It was definitely informative and I'm glad we went; Tony would've rather been spending his weekend watching all the big football games, but he was a trooper and he did great practicing to be my "coach."

As of 1/2 hr. ago, I am officially on Thanksgiving break, and I am so relieved! Both Tony and I have been struggling with colds and coughs for the last few days, so hopefully these next several days of break will give us some time to relax, rejuvenate, and recover!!

Have a happy Thanksgiving week, everyone!

28 weeks

28 weeks along now...

28 weeks

Thank the Lord, everything is still going really well with my pregnancy. I am feeling just fine, but am looking forward to the holidays coming up soon. It will great to have a little break from school and hopefully some time to relax.

Tony enjoyed his disc golf tournament this last weekend at MTYC. I spent my Saturday going out to breakfast with his grandma and then I had coffee with a girl from our youth group.

27 weeks & weekend update

27 weeks along now...

27 weeks

This weekend one of my teacher friends and her husband came over to our house for dinner. Our husbands are both attending the same seminary but they had never met before. We had a great time eating and playing games with Julie and Daniel!

My Saturday afternoon was spent shopping with Julie and another teacher friend of ours, Sarah. I was amazed at how busy the mall was, even though Christmas is still several weeks away. I guess everyone is getting into the "Christmas shopping" mode early this year, including me. I'm hoping to get all my shopping done in the next few weeks, so that I will be done soon after Thanksgiving. We'll see how that goes!!
Tony spent the early afternoon at a meeting for week and then played Disc Golf with some friends. Over the last couple of months, he's really gotten into this "new" sport...he's even attending the Disc Golf Tournament at Mountain Top Youth Camp this weekend!

26 weeks

We are now 26 weeks along...

26 weeks

According to our daily e-mail, our baby is now almost 15 inches long!
She has doubled in weight over the last 4 weeks and now weighs over 2 pounds. No wonder I've been gaining more weight lately!! haha
Here's what else the e-mail had to say: Your baby's auditory development (hearing) is progressing as the network of nerves to the ears matures. And even though the sounds your baby hears are muffled (thanks to the creamy coating of vernix covering those ears), he or she may recognize both yours and your husband's voices. So this might be a good time to read and even sing to your baby (or rather, your belly) — and a good chance to start boning up on those nursery rhymes and lullabies you'll need to be repeating (and repeating) pretty soon.

Your baby's taste buds are very developed now too (with more taste buds than he or she will ever have outside the womb, actually). Need a taste test? If you eat some spicy food, your baby will be able to taste the difference in the amniotic fluid (but keep in mind that you'll have different mealtimes, with your baby's coming about two hours after yours). Some babies will even respond to that spicy kick by hiccupping. And although hiccups (which feel like belly spasms to you) may seem like they're disturbing to your baby, he or she isn't stressed at all. It's just one more sensation that babies need to get used to.

My doctor's appt. yesterday went well--the glucose test was actually not quite as bad-tasting as I was expecting (just incredibly SWEET!); the thing I dreaded was having my blood drawn, but it all went fine. They will call us if the results of the test come back abnormal, so hopefully we will not hear any news in the next couple of days.

Down to Double Digits!!

No more triple digit countdowns anymore..
Just 98 days to go now until our due date!

Hard to believe it won't be too much longer until we meet our baby girl! I'm starting to think of all the things that need to be done in the next 3 months...!!

The Lord has blessed us with a great pregnancy so far.

Monday is my next dr.'s appt, and I have to have the gestational diabetes test when I go in. Fun stuff. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Have a wonderful weekend.
