Praises in the storm

Tony and I are in IA this weekend for my little brother's graduation from high school...and it has been such a blessing to spend time with family.
Weekends like this just make me so thankful for all the wonderful family that the Lord has blessed us with.
Yesterday afternoon was the graduation and tomorrow morning (Monday) will be Nathan's open house...so we are busily preparing for a large crowd of people here at my parents' house.

This morning at church, my mom and I had an emotional moment as the praise team sang the song "Praise You in This Storm" by Casting Crowns.
I had just been thinking of the lyrics of that song and how true they are to our situation and the "storm" that we've been weathering through the last 3 1/2 months.

Praise You in the Storm
I was sure by now
That you would have reached down
And wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say Amen, and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear your whisper through the rain, "I'm with you"
And as your mercy falls I raise my hands
And praise the God who gives and takes away
And I'll praise you in this storm and I will lift my hands
For you are who you are no matter where I am
And every tear I've cried, You hold in your hand
You never left my side and though my heart is torn
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of heaven and earth

I love the reminder that God "is who He is"--He's never changed no matter what storms and trials we are going through.

I love this song too. It is a great reminder that the Lord is always with us through it all. I'm so glad you could be with your family this weekend. It is so nice to be surrounded by people that love you and understand a little more of what you are going through.

i was sorry to miss you this weekend - we were in town but did not make it to Bethany. I love the song, too, because it's so real - not saying God's going to rescue us out of difficult times, but help us through the storm. Still praying for you.
