At 12 months old:
Size: 19 lbs, 12 oz., 29 inches (25%ile for weight, 50%ile for height)
Clothes: 12 months
Diapers: cloth 95% of the time
Sleep habits: 2 naps- 1-1 1/2 hrs each, bedtime around 7:30 (around 11 hours of sleep total at night)
Teeth: You now have 9 teeth! In the last month and a week, 4 more came in - now you have the front 4 on the top and front 4 on the bottom and one 12 month molar just popped through.
Eating habits: eating just about everything we give you; nursing 2 times each day, drinking some whole milk now, getting used to it little by little
Things you do:
- You love to say and wave "bye-bye" - often with both hands. When Daddy leaves for work in the morning, you stand by the door and then look out the window and watch him leave. You love your daddy so much!
- You easily understand and follow simple commands like "let's put your sock on," "come here," "let's go bye-bye," "can I have that?", etc.
- At 11 1/2 months you were easily and quickly cruising around all the furniture, as well as walking behind your sit and stand walker push-toy.
- At 12 months you can walk a few steps alone but only when you want to - doing much more crawling than walking still.
- You love walking with us while we hold your hands for support.
- At 11 1/2 months you really started to love animals even more and make the sounds for a doggie and kitty (both sound kinda like "aah, aah"). At 12 months you started making a "grr" sound for a lion - you love pulling out the books on the bookshelf and seeing the picture of Aslan from Narnia!
- You love to stand up and reach for the piano keys [or organ at Grandma's house] and play a little "tune" - sometimes we sit you up on the piano bench and you play and act like such a big girl!
- You like to follow us around the house - and be close to us.
- Right around your birthday, you started to show some separation anxiety - not enjoying being dropped off at the nursery or any form of childcare where mommy, daddy, or grandparents aren't around. Hope this stage doesn't last long :(
- You love your bath and get really excited when you hear the water running - you enjoy standing next to the tub, throwing the toys in, and watching the water fill up.
- Sharing is something we're working on - you often can be found grabbing other kids' toys in the nursery.
- You still love clapping, dancing, smiling, and "jabbering"
- You point to things in books when we ask "where's the...ball, bear, cat, dog, etc.?
- You love to find a stack of books and sit on the floor and look at the pictures and turn the pages one by one.
- You're great at making messes wherever you go! :)
- You're saying more words now (bear, ball, baby, etc) - it's so fun to watch you learn how to talk!
- You love your cousins and they love you! [haha things can get a little crazy at Grandma's house with the 4 of these kiddos together!]
- You do well at going down for naps/bed as long as we're at home and you can sleep in your own crib - we read stories, drink some milk from your sippy cup or nurse, and then when I put you in bed you immediately grab your paci and lovey. Sometimes you talk to yourself for a while before falling asleep.
- You're usually too busy to cuddle very often - Mommy misses our snuggle times! Sometimes she can get some cuddles when you have just woken up though.
- You got your ears pierced a couple of days before your birthday! It was sort-of a birthday gift to you; you only cried for about a minute and the earrings haven't bothered you at all since. However, we found out you're allergic to latex when you broke out in a bad full-body rash after being touched with latex gloves :(
- You're not a fan of diaper changes and usually crawl away fast if you hear those words mentioned - "let's change your diaper"
- You love to "test" mommy and daddy - by doing things you know you're not supposed to do - touching the TV, pulling on the toilet paper, etc. A little discipline follows...
- You love "hide & seek" with daddy.
- We went to our first "parent/infant" swim class this month.
- You also rode a carousel for the first time.
- You also went with Mommy, Grandma, and Aunt Natalie on a girls' day out - we went strolling in downtown shops, ate a delicious Mexican lunch and had fresh bakery cupcakes. You did great and enjoyed the girl time :)
Hannah Beth, I just can't believe what a sweet little blessing you are!
